Henry Hansen's RIBES story

Henry Hansen is an early stage researcher within the RIBES network and is pursuing a PhD at Karlstad University, Sweden. He will be using Bayesian statistical methods to develop models that link different river management scenarios to outcomes affecting fish communities and the habitat they depend on. Here he tells more about his background and the research group he is part of.

Ali Hassan Khan: His RIBES Story

Ali Hassan Khan was the first Early Stage Researcher recruited to the RIBES European Training Network. He works at the centre for Biorobotics in the Environmental Sensing and Intelligence group at Tallin Technical University, and his objectives are to create high-resolution CFD models of full-scale replicas of eight different fish species. These models will aid in investigating how different fish body shapes impact their sensing extent. Here he tells about his background, and his research and expectations within RIBES.

ESR10: Florian Eggers

We are happy to announce that Florian Eggers has joined the RIBES European Training Network as one of our early stage researchers. Hosted by Fiskevårdsteknik AB, his work will focus on field monitoring methods to assess fish passage efficiency.

ESR05: Miriam Castagna

We’re happy to greet Miriam Castagna welcome to the RIBES European Training Network. Last week, she has joined RIBES as one of our early stage researchers. She is hosted by University of Aberdeen and will study hydrodynamics of swimming fish with a focus on fundamental aspects of flow-fish interactions.

ESR01: Philip Ericsson

We’re happy to greet Philip Ericsson welcome to the RIBES European Training Network. Last week, he joined the network as one of our early stage researchers. He is hosted by University of Southampton, UK, and will work on quantification of fish responses to multimodal signals, including acoustics and hydrodynamics.

ESR08: Usama Ashraf

We’re happy to greet Usama Ashraf welcome to the RIBES European Training Network. This week, he has joined the RIBES European Training Network as one of our early stage researchers (ESR). Usama Ashraf will be hosted by Politecnico di Torino and his work will involve studying swimming performance of small-sized migratory fish species.

ESR14: Gloria Mozzi

We are happy to announce that Gloria Mozzi has joined the RIBES European Training Network as one of our early stage researchers. She will be hosted by Politecnico di Torino and her work will involve developing innovative criteria for enhancing technical solutions for fish passage at hydropower plants.

ESR07: Marcelo Ruiz

We are happy to welcome Marcelo Ruiz to the RIBES European Training Network. This week, he has joined RIBES as one of our early stage researchers. He is hosted by University of Padua and his research will include hydrodynamics in relation to the fish swimming in flow.

ESR04: Sophia Schumann

We are happy to welcome Sophia Schumann to the RIBES European Training Network. This week, she has joined RIBES as one of our early stage researchers. She is hosted by University of Padua and will study stress responses in fish in relation to anthropogenic stressors associated with hydropower passage.

ESR02: James Campbell

We’re happy to greet James Campbell welcome to the RIBES European Training Network. Last week, he joined the RIBES European Training Network as one of our early stage researchers (ESR). will be hosted by IGB - Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries in Germany and his work will focus around quantification of light pollution as a fish migration barrier.
